Limited availability during the holidays
Another busy year is coming to its end, and an exciting year lies ahead. In order to get ready for a fresh new start, our team will spend a few days' rest during the winter holidays. Over the holiday break, we will have reduced staffing from December 20th, 2024, to January 5th, 2025, so please be patient if you do not receive a response as quickly as you normally would.
We send our warmest wishes for happiness, health, and success throughout the coming year. Thank you for your continued support, and may you have a peaceful and blessed Happy Holidays!
Hi,
When I am using LayerSlider with Enfold Theme in a Stretched Layout mode it works OK. However, when I am switching to the Boxed Layout mode the slider does not centre, but sticks to the right edge of a browser widow.
Both the maximum Container width in Enfold (in General Layout setting) and Canvas width (in LayerSlider Layout setting) are set to 1440.
It behaves the same in a Responsive and a Full Width mode. Same problem on Safari or Chrome.
I appreciate your prompt advice.
BR, Piotr
Hey Piotr,
This problem will be likely related to the Enfold builder rather than the slider itself.
But if you show us your site or a test page where we can check this, we will take a closer look.
Hi Attila,
Thank you for your response. I am afraid this might be rather a a slider problem.
As I mentioned before the problem appears after I switch my site from Stretched mode to Boxed mode. In your Default Options settings the Background Position is set to "Centre Centre". As I mentioned, in such a case the background image of the slider sticks to the right edge of the browser (you can notice it only when your screen resolution is wider than the Canvas Width which is set to 1440px in my case).
After few trials I managed to centre the position of the background image in the boxed mode by stetting the (above mentioned) Background Position option to "Left Top". However, it affected ONLY the BACKGROUND image and not the layers (words) which are placed over this image. In result the words are covering important places of the image instead to be positioned also according to the Left Top position.
You may please take a look at the site at http://www.learnetic.com which originally works in Stretched Mode. Unfortunately I can not show you the the problematic behaviour, that I am writing about, as I would need to switch the whole (live) site to Boxed Mode which causes problem with LayerSliders on all the pages.
Instead I am attaching two screenshots:
1. The view of a page which was just switched from Streched mode to Boxed mode without any changes in LayerSlider Settings.
2. The view of a page in a Boxed mode after changing the Background Position option in LayerSlider Default Options to "Left Top".
[The Slide background Image Position option is set to: Inherit in a "local" Slide Options]
Thanks in advance for your support.
BR, Piotr
Unfortunately we cannot really tell the source of the problem from just screenshots, it would be good to see it live.
However we still believe that the problem is related to theme. Enfold frequently applies its own code on other plugins overwriting some settings or behaviors. There was a lot of internal changes in LayerSlider 6, that could cause issues like this if the theme do not follow up on these changes.
In any case, as I've mentioned we cannot tell it for sure without seeing the problem. Could you please set up a hidden password protected test page where we can see this boxed layout issue ?
Hi Attila,
I am afraid positioning of the layers in boxed mode is not the only problem with the new version of the LayerSlider.
Because I could not force LayerSlider to work correctly in a boxed mode I need to use it in a stretched mode. But here again, the slider does not stretch but fixes to the "Canvas width" value. It behaves exactly the same in Responsive and in Full width mode. In fact I do not understand why" Canvas width" parameter (which you need to put in pixels not percentage) in Full width mode is active and forces the slider to limit to this its value (?).
I have a test site where the previous version of a LayerSlider i.e. 5.6.8.is installed and everything works fine there, both in a Boxed mode or in a Stretch mode. I am affraid I need to downgrade the LayerSlider to version 5.x.x. to skip the problems until you or Enfold/Kriesi fixes the bugs.
So, can I ask you to advice me how can I downgrade the LayerSlider to 5.x.x.?
Thanks for your assistance.
Piotr
Sorry for the delayed response. We will take a closer look on this issue and contact Kriesi if necessary.
I will also attach the latest version from LayerSlider 5.
Thanks Attila, I count on your help.
To summarise current situation:
- the issue concern the following site: http://www.learnetic.com
- currently the site works in Stretched layout mode,
- the LayerSlider, despite it is set to Full width, does not stretches but limits itself to Canvas width (1440px),
- if I switch the site to Boxed layout mode, the LayerSlider does not centres, but sticks to the right edge of the web browser.
If you instruct me how to downgrade to lower LS version I will test it and let you know the result.
Look forward to hearing from your soon.
Best regards, Piotr
Upss, sorry I did not noticed you sent me the lower version. I will test it and let you know. BR again, Piotr
Hi Attila,
I managed to solve the issue. I simply re-created the sliders from scratch and they started to work properly.
So, it must have been problem with importing slides from older (i.e. 5.6.8) version to new 6.1.6 version. So you may close this ticket.
I have maybe one more general question. Do you have any advice how to make the sliders moving as smoothy as those that you have on your demo page? I am using now the very basic functionality i.e. "background picture and sliding words over it" but they never go smoothly, but rather stop or break/tear the moves. Any advice highly welcome.
Site to observe: http://www.learnetic.com
All the best, Piotr
Thank you for the feedback. Glad it works now.
Could you please specify what exactly are you aiming for to make the slider more smooth ? Your slider does appear to be animating correctly for me currently.
If you want to sync the layers and background image starting animations, you can use the Time Shift option. Or is there something else you want to achieve ?
Also, you can import every demo slider from the Template Store to have a closer look at them, and check what settings we used and how we set them up exactly.
