Unfortunately the error message itself does not provide much information for us. We cannot really tell from it, if it is generated by LayerSlider or another item, it could also be the reason why the plugin does not update properly.
In any case, there is no issue like this present in the latest release of our plugin (6.1.0.), so it is likely a conflict problem on your installation. To start troubleshooting please try to temporary disable other plugins and switch to a default theme to see if that solves the issue.
