I believe that the problem is most likely caused by that the fontawesome fonts are not included to the front-end of your site only to the back-end, that is why it does not appear properly. You will need to add the fonts to the live site as well, please make sure of this.
Also, you can use custom HTML codes instead of the character codes, this way you can 1:1 copy the examples from the icon fonts website.

can you advice me to reach it with layer slider aswell? in the backend it seems to work but when i see it live there are only withe bubbles.....
